Hello friends,
My name is Ed Kochendarfer (That's pronounced just like this Koch- like Coke, then "en" finally "Darfer") I was told it is German, and could have the meaning of a Village Cook?
I have been painting and drawing since becoming disabled from my last occupation in 1999. I have always enjoyed drawing, and that was my best grade in elementary and high school.
I have taken classes at the local community college and have made it my life's work to see as many masterpieces that I can. Each time I see the paintings that are over 100yrs old, it almost takes my breath away at the beautiful work these artists created.
Just a few days ago I had the privilege to be with my wife on her business trip to Sacramento. I couldn't miss going to the Crocker Art Museum. Would recommend it to any one who is wanting to see a wonderful collection especially of California Painters. The Museum is loaded with many pieces which as I understand it, is only a fraction of what they really have. The pieces are actually rotated monthly. The House is the original home of the Crockers. It has been remodeled and a sizable building has been expanded to hold the pieces. They have a complete wing for Contemporary works that are also changed monthly. I was most impressed with the current exhibit of Bety Saar's work, splended.
What is my Daily Blog about? Well the idea is to let you in on my creative mind. I try to tell myself that I need to work out a painting before hand. I have in the past used my sketch book and charcoals to try different compositions. And other times I just begin painting, not being concerned with composition and have had some disasters. But at times I am able to piece something together.
What painting style do I have? I have a loose style that is close to Impressionism. I do Landscapes and Still-Life's. I have been using Watercolors lately but as of today have decided for my new "Blog" venture that I will return to Oils.
Color is my friend and I use as much as possible.
Sit back and read on Friends and I will try to give as much as possible as to my thoughts during Conception, Creation, and finally Completion.
